Dallas E. Kohls
Dallas E. Kohls, 98, of Heritage Manor, died at 2:15 am Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996, at Heritage Manor.
There will be no services or visitors at this time. Mr. Kohls donated his body for research to the University of Iowa, Iowa City. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Kohls was formerly employed by the Illinois Central Railroad for 40 years until his retirement.
He was born on Nov. 28, 1897, in Guttenberg, Iowa, son of Edward and Alvina (Baltes) Kohls. He married Olive M. Baldwin on Sept. 24, 1918 at Elkader, Iowa.
He enjoyed playing cards with his family and was an avid Cubs fan.
Surviving are four daughters, Helen M. Pohl, of Dubuque, Joyce Kennicker, of Andrew, Iowa; Dee (Robert) Hinds, of Baraboo, Wis., and Kay (Dean) White of Wilmington, Calif.; two sons, Richard E. (Judy) Kohls, of Dubuque, and Robert L. (Barbara) Kohls, of Wichita, Kan.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Violet Knapp, of McGregor, Iowa; Clarice Knapp, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa; and Bea Rathje, of Nampa, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive M. Kohls, on March 29, 1990; and an infant son, Frederick.
Memorials may be given to Heritage Manor.
