Mrs. Tamar Kohls
McGregor, Ia.--- Special: Funeral services for Mrs. Tamar (Grandma) Kohls, 94, were held from the Fritz farm home.

Mrs. Kohls was born at Carmicheals, Pa., on Feb. 12, 1844, the eldest child of Mr. And Mrs. Jacob Cumley. In 1850, she moved with her parents to Monroe, Wis., where she grew to young womanhood. In 1865, she was married to John Kohls, also of Monroe, who had served in the Civil War. To this union, three children were born: Mrs. Sylvia Fritz of McGregor; Edwin, who preceded her in death in Chicago in 1929, and one son who died in infancy.

They made their home in National and Garnavillo for a number of years. In 1898 they moved to a small farm near McGregor, where Mr. Kohls preceded her in death 15 years ago. Since his death, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Fritz.

She leaves her aged sister, Mrs. Alcinda Hawkins, 92 of Cottage Grove, Ore., her daughter, Mrs. Fritz of McGregor; nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
