Elkader Register, Thur., 31 Oct. 1912.
Mrs. Frances Keese died at the County farm and was buried Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20th, Rev. Heddon officiating. Several of the people of the Congregational church were in attendance, thus proving their sympathy for the deceased, tho' a stranger to most of them. The pastor of the Congregational church wishes to express his gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Koehn for the privilege of giving Christian burial to this poor human being. He wishes also to commend their work in behalf of the unfortunates placed under their control, knowing of their interest in, and care of the poor, and realizes that the words of Jesus are being fulfilled literally by them in their efforts. He said, "Inasmuch as ye do it unto the least of these, my brethren, ye do it as unto me." Surely such work as theirs will not go unrewarded. He also wishes to give praise to the Grand Jury in recent session, for advocating and supporting the movement to give Christian service to the charges of the County at stated times. A very noble step indeed.
