Elkader Register, Thur., 22 June 1893. Volga column.

Mr. Joseph Bradshaw died at his home in this vicinity last Thursday, June 15, aged 68 years. He had been in feeble health several years but the past few months he failed rapidly and his friends knew that he could not live long. He was a soldier of the late war, serving his country in Co. E., 9th Iowa Inft. Vols. At his funeral Friday afternoon, the veterans of this place marched to the beat of the muffled drum and carried the crapped flag. The discourse was preached by the pastor of the Universalist church of West Union. Deceased leaves several sons, daughters and grandchildren to mourn his loss. They have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.
