Marshal Hatfield, of McGregor, a veteran of Co. E, 5th Iowa Cavalry, died at the Soldier's Home at Marshalltown Saturday, says the Argus, whither he had been taken but two weeks before.

Marshall Hatfield of Soldiers' Home Served in Two Wars
Marshall Hatfield, a veteran of two wars in which his country was engaged, died at the Soldier's Home hospital Sunday morning at 8 o'clock, after an illness of valvular heart trouble.Mr. Hatfield was 84 years of age, and had been in failing health for many years.
He has served during the Mexican war, but as he was not admitted to the Home because of that service, no record of his enlistment is officially known. Hatfield was also a soldier of the civil war, having enlisted at McGregor, in Company E, Fifth Iowa cavalry, Feb. 19, 1864. He was discharged Aug. 11, 1865, at Nashville, Tenn.
He came to the Home from McGregor Aug. 4, 1902, and was here seven months, and was readmitted on the 3d last.
Mr. Hatfield was a widower, and has no children.
The body will be sent to McGregor for interment, leaving at 5:30 this evening, and will be buried under the direction of the G.A.R. of McGregor, of which the deceased was a member. -- Marshalltown Times Rep. of Monday.

Word was received from the soldiers Home at Marshalltown of the death of Marshall Hatfield Sunday morning October 16th at the age of 83 years.At his request to be buried in McGregor beside his wife who died some years ago, the remains arrived Tuesday afternoon, and were met by old soldiers who placed it at rest in Oakland cemetery.
