Harlin William Miller

Harlin William Miller, 85, of Monona died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI, following an extended illness.

Harlin was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Monona, IA, to Hubert William and Hilda (Lenth) Miller. He was baptized on May 11, 1917, and confirmed Aug. 31, 1930, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. He graduated from Monona High School on May 24, 1934.

He was united in marriage to Ethel Mae Moon on November 4, 1941, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. She preceded him in death on October 13, 1981.
On January 8, 1983, he married Hilma (Kuhse) Kohrs at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona.

Harlin farmed the family farm until 1969, when he retired to his new and present home in Monona. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, watching Cub's baseball, fishing and going on country drives.

He is survived by his wife Hilma, daughter, Joyce (Robert) Melcher of Monona; son Dale (Arlene) Miller of Fredericksburg, son Ronnie (Diana) Miller of Monona, son-in-law Leonard Seitz (fiance Edith) of Elkader; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; step-children, Wes (Judy) Kohrs of Big Bear Lake, CA, Dennis (Shelva) Kohrs of Postville, Barb (Bob) Burns of Postville, Karen (Jack) Jaster of Ossian, Gary (Cindy) Kohrs of Independence, Gloria (DeWayne) Janey of Shellsburg; fifteen step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel, daughter, Marlys Seitz on September 9, 1993, his mother and father, Hilda and Hubert and sister, Helen Doerring.

Services were at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Interment was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona.

Honorary bearers were: Elmer and Marilyn Radloff, Lanny and Linda Scheffert, john Boardman, Lawrence and Evelyn Linderbaum, Virgil Heins, Lillian Robb, Robert Doerring, Keith Kutzbach, Wayne Miene. Casket bearers were: Raymond Doerring, Jim, Dennis, Dan, Randy, Rick and Steve Moon and Luther Schutte.
