Samuel C. Clark, well known to some of our older residents passed away at Finley hospital in Dubuque, IA. on Saturday, July 31, 1926, following a brief illness. He was born at St. Charles, MO. Feb 19, 1841, and came to Iowa when a lad of 4 yr, his mother being among our earliest pioneers. His wife died in 1906. Children surviving are Mrs. E.H. Prior, Postville, IA. Mrs. R. Octley, Fayette, IA. Mrs. C.H. Morris, San Francisco, CA.; C.H. Clark, West Union, IA. Victor K. Dubuque, IA. L.S. Clark, Calcutta, India, 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. He was a veteran of Civil War and member of Masonic fraternity. At one time he was engaged in State recruiting work. Remains were sent to Fayette for final services.
