Helen Vivian Jarms, 93, Monona, IA, died Saturday, September 24, 2005, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2005, at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will follow in the Monona City Cemetery, Monona. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2005, from 4-8 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home, Monona and from 10:00 am until service time at the church on Thursday.
Survivors include four children, Marlys Frye, Poway, CA, Joanne Vorwald, Monona, Don Jarms, Tucson, AZ, Betty Kiesau, Monona, and one brother, Robert Jacobson, Monona.

Helen Vivian Jarms
Helen Vivian Jarms, 93, Monona, IA, died Saturday, September 24, 2005, at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI, following a short illness. She was born June 15, 1912, in St. Olaf to Anton and Marie (Kristofferson) Jacobson. Helen was baptized July 14, 1913, and confirmed August 7, 1927, both at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, IA. Helen attended country schools through the eighth grade, then transferred to and graduated from Elkader High School in 1930. She taught country school for two years in rural Clayton County.
On March 5, 1932, she was united in marriage to Harold Jarms at Galena, IL. Five children were born to this union.
Helen had been a resident at Postville Good Samaritan Center for the past six months.
Survivors include four children, Marlys Frye, Poway, CA, Joanne (Harold) Vorwald, Monona, Don (Mary Lou) Jarms, Tucson, AZ, Betty (Robert) Kiesau, Monona; fifteen grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Jacobson, Monona; a sister-in-law, Vera Wirkler, Postville; two cousins, Aileen Rathwell, Victoria, B.C. and Bill Pipes, Guelph, Ontario; several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on August 5, 1974; son, William Jarms; son-in-law, Robert Frye; grandson, Randy Frye; three sisters, Gladys Zenisek, Sally Landt and Ruth Timmerman; two brothers, Oscar Jacobson and Rolf Jacobson; six brothers-in-law, Harvey Jarms, Giles Blietz, Joe Geraghty, Stan Zenisek, Ray Humpfer, Willis Timmerman and four sisters-in-law, Shirley Jacobson, Marguerite Geraghty, Dorothy Blietz and Marie Jarms.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 29, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, with Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial followed in the Monona City Cemetery, Monona.
