Burial was in the Gooding cemetery in Wagner township in the Sheppard family lot with military graveside service.

He was born a son of William and Ottilda, nee Marfilius, Sheppard, Dec. 8, 1888, in Wagner township. He attended the rural school at Gooding and the Evangelical Sunday school and church there.

After spending his early years in this community as a farm laborer, he answered the call of service in the United States army. Later he became a resident of Landon, N. After becoming injured while at work, which left him somewhat handicapped during the last several years, he was forced to spend some time in U.S. Veteran homes and finally in the U.S. Veterans hospital at Fargo, N. D., where he died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1965.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Cora Morch and Hattie, and a brother, Roy.

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Clara Olson of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Roy Burr of Ridgeway, and three brothers, Alva of Kalispell, Mont., Myron of Fayette, and Elmer of Keosauqua.

Brothers and sisters in attendence at the services were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Burr of Ridgeway, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Scheppard (sic) of Fayette, and Elmer Scheppard (sic) of Keosauqua.

Relatives were also in attendence from Cresco, Clermont, Fayette, Wadena, Cedar Rapids, Luana, Postville, and Monona and its rural area.

Recorded music was played at the services.

Pallbearers were nephews Clifford Olson, John Phillips, Donald and Robert Burr, and a brother, Roy.
