Oliver Doerring

Oliver C. Doerring, 79, Monona, Iowa, died Thursday, October 27, 2005, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI, following a sudden illness.

Oliver was born on December 1, 1925, in rural Luana, IA, to Arno and Bernadine (Brandtman) Doerring. He was baptized on December 20, 1925, and confirmed on April 2, 1939, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. He attended Luana Public School through the eighth grade.

Oliver was married to Rose Marie Ruckdaschel at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, on April 3, 1955. Two daughters were born to this union. Oliver farmed with his wife Rose Marie for thirty-two years and then retired to live in Monona. He worked for Swiss Valley for a number of years, worked part-time at Monona Wire and put out the school stop signs for the City of Monona for many years. He enjoyed cracking nuts and making rugs in his spare time. Oliver loved spending time with his family and friends, especially all of his grandchildren and great-grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Doerring, Monona; two daughters, Marsha (Kenneth) Conway, Stillwater, OK, Marilyn (Michael) Rood, Monona; five grandchildren, Melissa (Derick) Gilbreath, Stillwater, OK, Mindy Conway, Stillwater, OK, Megan Conway, Stillwater, OK, Christopher (Sandra) Rood, Sumner, Cory Rood, Waterloo; one great-grandson, Charlie Edward Gilbreath, Stillwater, OK; three sisters, Maxine Morch, Postville, Eunice (Myrl Dean) Dickman, Postville, Inez (Dwayne) Moon, Luana and two brothers, Roland (Marlene) Doerring, Garnavillo and James (Elaine) Doerring, McGregor.

Oliver was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 31, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, IA, with Rev. Steve Brackett officiating. Burial will follow at the Postville Cemetery, Postville, IA. Friends may call Sunday, October 30, 2005, at Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, IA from 4 to 7 p.m. and after 10 am Monday at the church.

Casket Bearers were Melissa Gilbreath, Derick Gilbreath, Mindy Conway Megan Conway, Christopher Rood, Sandra Rood and Cory Rood Honorary Bearer was Charlie Edward Gilbreath.

Music By: Joann Martins, organist; Ronald Meyer and Joshua Grau, soloists.
