Services for Olavus T. Knudtson, of St. Olaf, Iowa, were held at the Marion Lutheran church, Monday afternoon, February 11, 1952. The Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiated. Burial was in the Marion Lutheran cemetery.
Mr. Knudtson died at his home in St. Olaf Thursday, Feb. 07. He had been in failing health for the past year. Death was due to the infirmities of old age.
Olavus T. Knudtson was born on a farm near Elgin, June 03, 1871, the son of Torkel and Randi Olson Knudtson. He received his education in the rural schools near his home. On Nov. 13, 1907 at Hayfield, Minn., he was united in marriage to Belle Mathilda Stove. He was a farmer and had spent his entire life in Clayton county. He was a member of the Marion Lutheran church.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons: Mrs. Fred Butikofer, Elgin; Mrs. Gunnar (Selma) Landsgaard, St. Olaf; Orvin Knudtson and Elmer Knudtson, both of Guttenberg; also 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were six nephews: Clarence Torkelson, Oliver Torkelson, Roy Halverrson, John Erickson, Thomas Lofstuen, Lawrence Knudtson.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Jolleff Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lofstuen, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Otteson, David and Kenneth, Mrs. Olvin Wheatman and Allan, John Erickson, Ingmar Hilberg, Mrs. Bertha West, Gehard Groth, all of Decorah; Mrs. Gilbert Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Martie and Ivanell, all of Osage, Iowa; Leonard Lofstuen, Waterloo; Henry Wilson, Mrs. Selma Sonstegard, both of Rushford, Minnesota.
