Elmer Marsh Passes At McGregor Home
Services for Elmer R. Marsh, 83, who died at his home in McGregor, Sunday, November 10, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist church at McGregor. The Rev. E. G. Steinman was the officiating minister. Burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery.
Mr. Marsh was born May 18, 1863, at Portage, Wis. On September 16, 1885, he was married to Flora McGhee of Hardin, at Elkader. Following their marriage they lived in Postville where he owned and operated a livery. Later they moved to Waterloo where he traveled for a separator company. In 1914 the family moved onto a farm near McGregor. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 48 years.
Eight years ago he retired from farming and they moved to McGregor and have lived here since. Last September 16 they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Surviving besides the widow are three daughters, Mrs. A. L. Hodson of Winona, Minn.; Mrs. Milo Moody of Marquette, and Mrs. Francis McMillin of McGregor; and four grandchildren, Flora Jean and Richard Hodson, Lois Moody, and Ronald McMillin.
