Mr. Hansen was born Nov. 11, 1900, in Maribo, Denmark, the son of the Laurits Hansens. He received his education in the Danish school system and came to this country as a young man. On Nov. 11, 1922, he was united in marriage with Doris Dorman at Strawberry Point. The couple lived at Ruthven and Red Oak, Iowa, at which place Mr. Hansen was in business before coming to Strawberry Point about 12 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen operated the Western Auto Supply store since that time. Mr. Hansen underwent surgery last fall and was able to return to his work at his store until three weeks ago. Last Sunday his condition became such that it was necessary to take him to the Delaware County Memorial hospital at Manchester, and it was there that he died Friday afternoon, Feb. 04.
Mr. Hansen is survived by his widow; a sister, Agnes Hansen in Denmark, and a nephew, Erik Hansen, in Sweden. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of the American Legion, having served in World War I, of the Masonic lodge and was affiliated with the Lutheran church.
His favorite pastime was fishing and he spent much of his leisure time in that sport.
