Capt. Baker, of Co. E, 9th Iowa vols., writes to Mr. Jno Chase of this county, that his son, Wm. H. Chase, "a true patriot, a brave soldier, an honest, upright, noble-minded young man," died on the 27th ult., near Vicksburg, of bilious fever.
