Mrs. Mary Fuelling, nee Kahle, was born in Garnavillo township, on Dec. 23, 1867. From Garnavillo township she moved with her parents to a farm in Farmersburg township. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Clayton Center by the Rev. Seifert on April 02, 1882. On January 27, 1888 she was married to Ernest H. Fuelling. After their marriage they lived for a number of years on a farm 1 1/2 miles east of Farmersburg, then they moved to the farm which has been her home the past 56 years. They had nine children, four daughters and five sons.

Mrs. Fuelling was a member of St. John's Lutheran church of Farmersburg and a member of the Lutheran Verein. The deceased had always enjoyed good health until 12 years ago when she developed an asthmatic heart condition. Since that time she had been confined to her home most of the time. On last Friday, Dec. 10, she fell and broke her hip. Monday afternoon her condition took a turn for the worse and on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 11:30 in the morning she died. She reached the age of 80 years 11 months and 22 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, six sisters, two grandsons, her husband, the late Ernest H. Fuelling, who died 31 years ago, and her son William.

She is survived by her four daughters: Hilda, Elsie, Lona and Laura, with whom she made her home, and four sons, Louis and Benhard of Farmersburg, Edward of Luana and Milo of Guttenberg, also 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 17, from the St. John's Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery with the Rev. R. H. Steege officiating.

Casket bearers were the eight grandsons, Elmer, Carlton, Carle, LeRoy, Allison, Elwood and Lorimer Fuelling and Duane Duwe.

The flower girls were granddaughters: Sara Mae, Adeline and Gretchen Fuelling and Eldora Duwe.
