Services for Leon P. Phillips, 70, were held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Hamilton funeral home in Des Moines and burial was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.

Mr. Phillips was born in Volga and married Miss Grace White of Volga. They have lived in Des Moines 41 years. He was employed for the last three years as heating engineer at the Keith Furnace Co. in Des Moines.

Mr. Phillips died of a heart attack Wednesday at his home. He graduated in 1900 from the state university of Iowa. He was a member of the Capitol Masonic lodge and the Park Avenue Presbyterian church.

Survivors include his widow; one daughter, Norma; three sons, Orrin, Lloyd and Edwin, all of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Culbertson, La Porte City; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
