Funeral services for Louis Stahl were held from the Witt Funeral Chapel Thursday afternoon, March 18 at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Mr. Stahl enjoyed good health until several months ago when he began to have trouble walking and it was discovered that gangrene had developed in one of his feet. He entered Finley hospital in Dubuque where he died Monday evening, March 15, following the amputation of his leg the previous Tuesday.

He had reached the age of seventy-three years, four months and twenty-four days.

Louis Stahl was born in Boardman township, Clayton county on October 21, 1874, the son of Charles and Ernestine nee Heiden Stahl. With the exception of five or six years he had spent his entire life in Boardman and Cox Creek townships.

He was married in the year 1906 at Elkader, Iowa, to Mary Corcoran who preceded him in death in the year 1929. Following their marriage they lived on a farm in Cox Creek township. Mr. Stahl spent his entire life farming. Following the death of his wife he remained on the farm and rented out the land.

He is survived by one brother, George Stahl, Elkader, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were: Thomas Bergen, George Kehl, Milton Klink, Grant McDowell, Fred Kuehl and George Behn.
