Royce De Ville White, son of Thomas and Susan White, early English pioneers, was born at National, Clayton county, Nov. 03, 1871, and died at his home in Volga, Feb. 15, 1948, at the age of 76 years, three months and 12 days.
When he was a young boy he moved to Postville with his parents where he resided until his marriage to Miss Ida Eppens of Guttenberg, which occurred in December, 1899.
They lived at Postville awhile, where their son Walter was born.
When he was about a year old they moved to what was known as the Herwig farm west of Volga, and lived there until 1926 when they moved to town. Mrs. White died July 21, 1947. Mr. White was the last member of the white family of eleven children.
Surviving are three children: Walter of Waterloo, Robert of Allison, Mrs. E. L. (Erma) Sanford, Fort Dodge, and three grandchildren, also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Blake and Gill chapel, with the Rev. L. J. Faris, Methodist minister, officiating. Mrs. C. W. Kohls, Mrs. W. K. Oldfather and Mrs. Leo Grether provided the music.
Casket bearers were R. E. Candee, John Follon, Don Leete, Harry Rinkert, H. E. Whitford and J. H. Whitford. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.
Attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Sanford, Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Walter White and daughter Susan, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Robert White, Allison; Mr. and Mrs. A. V. O'Brien, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. George Jardee, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morris, Tom Ryan, Oelwein; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gifford, Elkader; Mrs. Lura Manson, Mrs. Howard Hanson, Miss Lois Hanson, Attorney Teeling, all of Waukon.
