STRAWBERRY POINT: Gustav Skibbe, age 86, was found dead in bed Thursday morning by his son Henry who had spent the past two weeks with him. Mr. Skibbe had been in his usual state of health. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Skibbe, born in Germany Nov. 20, 1858, and came to America when 13 years of age.
On Sept. 12, 1883, he was married to Minnie Imlau. They farmed until retiring to Strawberry Point 27 years ago. Mrs. Skibbe died Sept. 12, 1940.
Surviving are four sons, Charles of Salt Lake City, Utah; Frank of Minneapolis, Minn., Henry and Otto of Strawberry Point; a daughter, Mrs. William Swisher of Strawberry Point; a sister, Mrs. Anna Anderson of Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Emmanuel Lutheran church, with burial in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
