Clayton County Register, 01 June 1944.

Funeral services for C. J. Adam, 76, former county superintendent of schools, were held at Guttenberg last Saturday. Mr. Adam a pioneer resident of the county, died Wednesday evening, May 24, after only a brief illness. He was president of the Clayton County State Bank in Guttenberg for many years. Mr. Adam is survived by one son, Harold, of Guttenberg. Mrs. Adam died several months ago. Burial was made at Volga City.
