STRAWBERRY POINT: Mrs. Theodore Schuchman, 39, died Saturday at Mercy hospital, Des Moines, where she went for an operation more than a week before, and from which she seemed to be recovering satisfactorily. The immediate cause of death was embolism.
As Thelma Niehaus, daughter of Fred and Lena Niehaus, she was born at Arlington, Oct. 06, 1904. On August 28, 1927, she was married to Theodore Schuchman. Survivors are the husband, two sons and two daughters, Lloyd and Harold, Mavis and Reva Ann, all at home; her mother, Mrs. Lena Niehaus of Strawberry Point; three brothers, Louis A. Niehaus of West Union, Raymond G. of Strawberry Point and Pvt. Bernard Niehaus of the U.S. Army; and a sister, LaVera Niehaus of Waterloo. One child died in infancy.
Mrs. Schuchman was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran church and its organizations, the Royal Neighbors lodge and the Women's Relief Corps. For many years she had been organist at the Lutheran church.
Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon in charge of her pastor, the Rev. L. A. Stumme. Music was furnished by the choir with Mrs. Don Tinker at the organ. The honorary casket bearers were Henry Burrack, Allan Falck, Donald Gundacker, George Gundacker and Merwyn Knake. Active casket bearers were Harold Fredrick, C. W. Buls, Lawrence Kramer, John Gerdes, Henry Knake and Charles McCarron. Burial was in Strawberry Point cemetery.
