Miss Eva Elnora Baker was born at Volga, Iowa, March 15, 1904, to Joseph H. Baker and Elizabeth Strukhoff Baker and died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 09, 1943, at her home here after having been a patient sufferer a number of years with arthritis.
She attended the Volga City public school and for several years was employed at the Modern Cafe by the late Mr. and Mrs. H, G, White.
Surviving are her parents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Baker, sister Margaret Jane and Frank Henry Baker, all of Volga, and a brother, Pvt. Charles L. Baker, 966 Guard Sqdn., Army Air Base, Sioux City, Iowa, besides several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 11, at 10 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic church, with the pastor, the Rev. D. T. Noonan, celebrating the Requien High Mass. The casket bearers were: Leo Little, Ted Leete, Wm. Conboy, Lyle Burns, Donald and Lyle Shea.
Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery, Volga City.
Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the last rites were: Anna and Alvin Strukhoff, McGregor; Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, Fayette; John Baker, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Cecile Sherman, Fayette; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wille, Garnavillo; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Peake, Oelwein.
