Clayton County Register, 08 July 1943.

Gordon F. Nelson, technician fifth grade in the Army Medical corps, died on a date unreported in the Southwest Pacific, according to a telegram received Friday afternoon by his father, Carl A. Nelson of Garber. The telegram came from the war department and stated briefly that Corporal Nelson had died and that further details would follow.

The youth had been in the army for eight months and had only recently been sent overseas. His father received a cablegram from him a week before saying he was well, and a letter received by his sister last week stated that he was in Australia.
