Military funeral services for Louis Frank Amling, 21, were held from St. Michael's church, Garber, Monday Dec. 22. The Rev. Father L. Holman officiated. Burial was in St. Michael's cemetery, Elkport, with the V.F.W. and American Legion in charge.
Mr. Amling died Dec. 18, enroute to a Dubuque hospital, of gunshot wounds suffered a short time before.
Louis Frank Amling was born at Elkport Nov. 09, 1926, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Amling. He received his education in the Elkport high school. He was a farmer by occupation He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the navy.
He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Gene and Thomas, of Elkport, and a half-brother, Harlan Staade, also of Elkport.
Pallbearers were George Kriebs, Clyde and Carl Rentschler, Merlin Rutledge, Ray Nimmo, and Mac Harbaugh.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Louis Amling, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Horstman, Guttenberg; Mrs. Daisy Haught, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lamphier, and Wm. Lamphier, all of Strawberry Point.
