Funeral services for Henry W. Wilke were held Wednesday, Oct. 01 with services at 1:30 o'clock at the home in St. Olaf and at 2:00 o'clock at the Norway church. Burial was at the Farmersburg cemetery. Dr. S. J. Strandjord conducted the services.

Pallbearers were Floyd Orvis, Alvin Larson, Roy Engelhardt, G. Hermann, Wm. Fuhrman, Vernon Rugland, Vernett Embretson and H. M. Herrick. Honorary pallbearers were F. K. Orvis, H. H. Diers and H. T. Embretson.

Henry W. Wilke was born Aug. 06, 1875, at Clayton Center and died at his home Saturday morning, Sept. 27, 1947, at the age of 72 years, one month, and 21 days. The cause of death was a heart ailment that had kept him confined to his bed for the past nine months.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Clayton Center and lived in that community until 1897, when he was married to Anna Heiden. To this union two sons were born, Elmer of St. Olaf and Clarence of Kenosha, Wis. They made their home in St. Olaf where he worked as a carpenter for several years and in January 1901 he purchased the store formerly owned by H. H. Thovson. His wife Anna died March 04, 1910.

October 25, 1912 he was married to Clara Knudson, to this union one son was born, Henry Jr., at home. He retired from the merchantile business in January 1924. While in business he served as town councilman for a number of years.

Survivors are his wife, three sons, two grandsons, Warren and Tommy Wilke, two brothers, Fred of Farmersburg and August of Elkader, one sister Mrs. H. W. Pahlas of Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada, and many other relatives and friends.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Roy Mandelkow, Miss Mildred Mandelkow, Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Mandelkow, Red Wing, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hamman and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hamman, Waubay, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. John Dorman, Brookfield, Ill.; Miss Laura Knudson, Evanston, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Knudson of Mason City.
