STRAWBERRY POINT: Mrs. S. F. Schoentag, 73 died at her home Monday morning. She was found dead in bed by her husband.
As Caroline Wilhelmina Stapel, daughter of John and Caroline Stapel, she was born April 27, 1874 at Strawberry Point. On November 15, 1894, she was married to Sigmund Schoentag at Strawberry Point. They farmed until retiring to Strawberry Point three years ago.
Survivors include her husband, a son Julius, Monona; four daughters, Mrs. Anna Loveland, Oelwein; Mrs. Alice Gehring, Elgin; Mrs. Gertrude Parmeley, Lamont; and Mrs. Esther Reed, Fredricksburg; nineteen grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Stapel, Oelwein; Fred, Atkins and Ernest, Verona, Wis; two sisters Mrs. Bertha Glode, Oelwein, and Mrs. Alice Steil, Moline, Ill.
A daughter, Mrs. Alma Bloomer, and a son, Harold, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 at the Gill Funeral chapel and at 2 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran church Wednesday. Burial was in the cemetery there.
