Funeral services for Charles A. Lantzky, 83, were held from the home of his niece, Mrs. Charlotte Smith, at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon to the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. O. H. Frerking, superintendent of the Bethany Home for the Aged at Dubuque, delivered the sermon. The Rev. Paul Kitterer pastor of the local church served as liturgest and had charge of the service in the home. The A.F. and A.M. lodge No. 72 of Elkader had charge of the service at the grave. Burial was in Garnavillo.

Mr. Lantzky had enjoyed good health and was active up to the time of his death which came suddenly as the result of a heart attack at the home of his niece, Mrs. Charlotte Smith, in Elkader, Monday evening, September 01.

Charles A. Lantzky, son of Louis and Henrietta Lantzky was born on May 29, 1864, in the village of U_hta, in the state of Hanover, Germany. He came to the United States when a young man, arriving in this country March 03, 1881. He came to Clayton county where he had relatives. Later he worked on the farm of the late Judge Crary near National.

On November 04, 1890, he was married to Louise Schulte. They went to housekeeping in Dubuque where Mr. Lantzky was employed as a bookkeeper. He later established a wholesale boot and shoe business known as the Lantzky-Allen Shoe company. Later this was changed to the Lantzky-Land Schultz company. In 1934 Mr. Lantzky retired from business and moved with his wife to Garnavillo, where he lived until the death of his wife which occurred July 29, 1943. Since that time he has made his home with his niece, Mrs. Charlotte Smith in Elkader.

For 53 years Mr. Lantzky was secetary of the Linwood Cemetery association. He also served for many years as treasurer of the Bethany Home for the Aged in Dubuque and still held both positions at the time of his death.

He served as a member of the Building committee at the time of the construction of the New Masonic Temple in Dubuque and contributed much of his time and energy to the work.

He was a member of the First Congregational church in Dubuque where he served as deacon of the church officers for many years.

Mr. Lantzky was a member of Methroplitan Lodge A.F. and A.M. at Dubuque, and DeMolay Consistory at Clinton, Iowa. at the age of 80 years he became a member of Charity Chapter Order of Eastern Star Elkader.

He is survived by two sisters Mrs. George Zeilinger of Monticello, Iowa and Mrs. Helen Yates of Phoenix, Ariz., and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers Albert and Will.

Pallbearers were: Karl Lantzky, Chicago; August Lantzky Plainfield, Iowa; Lester Wendt, Dubuque; Louis Benjegerdes, Postville; Elmer Schulte, Elkader, all nephews of the deceased and Lawrence Bjonerud, superintendent of the Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque.
