Clayton County Register, 12 June 1947.

Funeral services for Robert Carl Kraus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cy Kraus, were held at St. Joseph church Monday morning at 10 o'clock. The Very Rev. B. H. Skahill officiating. Burial was in The St. Joseph's cemetery.

Robert Carl was born June 09, 1939 at Volga, Iowa. He moved to Elkader with his parents when 4 years of age. He attended Kindergarten and St. Joseph school. On May 15 of this year he was confirmed by Bishop Fitzgerald of Dubuque.

Robert Carl had been ill for more than a year. The last ten months he was confined to his bed. He died at the home of his parents Friday, June 06, 1947, and was buried on his 8th birthday anniversary, Monday, June 09th.

He is survived by his parents, one sister Janice and one brother Vincent, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Kraus and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Farrell, all of Volga City.

Pallbearers were: Joe Little, Eddie Scheffert, Leslie Hill, Harold Witham, Duane Vorwald and Vernon Shaw.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Mrs. John Farrell, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Farrell and family, all of Charles City; Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Clauson and Tommy, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Feustermann, Aurora, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Kraus, Wood Center; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Farrell, Irene and Patricia, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Kraus and family, Mrs. Eddie Carroll and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Seeland, all of Volga; Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kraus and Jerome, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Evlon Kraus and family and Henry Kraus and family, all of Littleport.

A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is still.
A place is vacant in our hearts
That never can be filled.
