Clayton County Register, 06 Nov. 1940.

GUTTENBEG: Carl Hess, the seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hess died at the hospital of Dr. G. W. Palmer on Wednesday after having an operation for a ruptured appendix.

The funeral was held at St. Mary's church on Friday afternoon with the Rev. Joseph Dupont officiating. Burial was made in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

The parents, one sister and grandparents mourn his death.
