Amelia Jaster was born June 29, 1861, in Elk township, Clayton county, the eldest daughter of John and Carline, nee Fritz, Jaster.
On April 27, 1883, she was united in marriage to William Knospe and to this union four children were born. For a short while after their marriage they made their home in Osborne, but later moved to Elkport where they lived till the death of Mr. Knospe on June 14, 1928. Mrs. Knospe continued to make her home in Elkport until a year ago, when she moved to the home of her daughter near Littleport. Mrs. Knospe was, until the time of her death a faithful member of the Lutheran church, being one of the charter members of the Ladies Aid of the Elkport congregation.
On September 17, 1940, at 10:45 a.m., at the home of her daughter Mrs. William Schuldt she died. She leaves to mourn her death three children, Mrs. Gus Dorl of Guttenberg, Mrs. Martha Schuldt of Littleport, and John of Elkport, one son, Herman, having preceded his parents in death. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. William Waterman of Littleport and two brothers, Henry Jaster of Donnybrook, N.D., and Bernard Jaster of Alberta, Canada, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Mrs. Knospe had attained the age of 79 yeas, two months and nineteen days at the time of her death.
