GARBER: William John Hansel was born to J. W. and Nancy Hansel on Feb. 28, 1866, in Mallory township, Clayton county, Iowa. He was the oldest of Five children.
He died at his home on August 03rd, 1940, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 5 days. He grew to manhood in the neighborhood of his birth, and chose for his life companion, a neighbor girl, Mary Oldham. They were united in marriage January 26, 1900. This new home was begun on the farm on which they lived all the years of their wedded life. Two children were born to them: Loren Clark who died when but six weeks old; and Cedric who is still at home. He is survived by his wife, his son, a granddaughter, a brother Lyman and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Swisher and Mrs. Ellen Patrick, all of this neighborhood. The third sister, Mrs. Lettie Oldham died some years ago.
Funeral services were conducted from the United Brethern church by Rev. Fred Riggs, of Ames, a former pastor there.
Burial was in the Hansel cemetery.
Pallbearers were L. A. Oldham, Lyman Hansel, Leon Harbaugh, Dean Mallory, Edmund Feidt, and Ray Whitnable.
