Mary Elizabeth Hoover, eldest daughter of Julius and Margaret Stence Hoover, was born March 05, 1868, on a farm in Boardman township. Her education was received in the rural school and in St. Joseph's parochial school.
On Nov. 27, 1889, she was united in marriage with Will Keleher at St. Joseph's church. The home was established on a farm southwest of Elkader where they resided until 1913 when they moved to the present farm, which has since been her home and where her husband preceded her in death July 28, 1917.
Four years ago Mrs. Keleher was afflicted with a serious throat trouble from which she never fully recovered. About a month ago she suffered a fall which brought her death suddenly Saturday afternoon at 4:30, July 13, 1940, at the age of 72 years, four months and eight days.
