Fall from Ladder Fatal.
August Clemens, 54 years old, a life-long resident of McGregor, and for many years engaged in business as a painter and paper hanger fell twenty feet from a ladder last week while attempting to tie a rope about a tree in the yard of his home, striking on his head. He was picked up and carried into the house unconscious and after four hours died. Death was due to cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Clemens when a boy lost an arm as the result of an accident. Though crippled in this manner he has been able to follow his trade with skill. He leaves two sons, aged 15 and 17 years. His brother Albert Clemens, is proprietor of a large dry goods store at McGregor.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born June 19, 1854 and died Nov. 11, 1911. He is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor.
