Funeral services for Mrs. John Hines occurred Thursday afternoon at the home conducted by the Rev. Glenn S. Hartong, pastor of the local Methodist church. Burial was made in the Cox Creek cemetery.
Mary Esther Kellogg, daughter of Samuel and Mary Kellogg was born in Lodomillo township on Oct. 12, 1856, and died at her home Tuesday morning from the effects of a stroke. She was married to John Hines on Aug. 27, 1875. The home had always been made in this vicinity. Mr. Hines died April 04, 1926. Surviving are eight children: Robert at home; Mrs. Rose Kidner, Richard and Mrs. Lester Coonface, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Lucy Heiberger, Rufus and Almond all of Oelwein and Mrs. Charles Lamphier, St. Olaf; also thirty-four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
