Clayton County Register, 10 April 1940.

LOUIS J. KLINK

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at two o'clock for Louis J. Klink. Services were held at the late home and burial was made in Communia cemetery with the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.

Casketbearers were: William Koehn, Frank Tieden, George Tieden, Clem Whittle, William Behrens and William Costigan.

Louis L. Klink, a life-long resident of this community, died at his home in Motor, Saturday evening April 06 at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 22 days. Mr. Klink was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klink. His parents came to America from Germany and settled in Communia, Iowa, where the deceased was born on the 14th day of May 1870.

Mr. Klink was united in marriage to Elizabeth K. Wistrick on April 20, 1895, here at Elkader. After their marriage they settled on the farm on which deceased died. Three children were born to this union - two sons and one daughter: Le Roy J. Klink of Littleport, Mrs. Mable Pust of Littleport and Ernie H. Klink of Belle Plaine, Iowa.

Living in the home in which he died for 45 years and being born only a few miles away he became a part of that community. He was an able and industrious farmer and made a success of his chosen occupation. He became very well known to many because in his early days he ran a threshing crew. He was interested in this type of work from the day horse power was used until today, with the modern machinery.

The deceased had been in failing health for a number of years, but was able to be about his duties until March 15, of this year. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, the aforementioned children, two brothers, Peter Klink of Chicago, Ill., Henry Klink of Elkport; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Greve of Elkport, and Mrs. Emma Hildebrandt of Edgewood; also five grandchildren and many friends.

(Note: The middle initial of deceased appears as both L. and J. in the article, as shown.)
