MONONA: William Kurth, aged 81, died at the McGregor hospital having fallen in his home and broke his hip. He had been in poor health for many months.
Surviving him are five children, Mrs. Bertha Klinkenberg and Mrs. Ella Trappe of Monona; Mrs. Elsie Klema of Elkader, and Walter and Louis J. Kurth both of Waukon. A daughter, Mrs. Emma Pettit, and a son, William Kurth, preceded him in death as also did Mrs. Kurth, to whom he was married at Salem, South Dakota, on March 22, 1883.
For the past twenty-five years Mr. Kurth resided in Monona and for the thirty-seven years preceding this he lived near Farmersburg.
Mr. Kurth was of a jovial disposition which won for him his many friends. He was honest and a good neighbor. The sympathy of the community is extended the children.
Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon to the Lutheran church. Rev. H. W. Siefkes officiated and burial was made in the city cemetery beside Mrs. Kurth.
