Lillian Brown, Eldest daughter of James and Jane Heweit Brown, was born on June 24, 1860, in Mallory township, Clayton county, and departed this life on Jan. 12, 1940, at the age of 79 years and six months.
She was married to John Blaker Oct. 04, 1883, to which union one son was born, Charles Edward who survives.
Mrs. Blaker spent her entire life in this vicinity and attended the Fairview church until her husband's health failed. She was a charter member of the Rebekah lodge in Colesburg of which she attended regularly.
Her husband, John Blaker, preceded her in death May 10, 1933. Also one brother, James Brown, passed away in 1934.
On Jan. 07, after her farm home was destroyed by fire on New Year's Day, she went to Chicago to spend a few weeks with her granddaughter, Mrs. Pearl Stickrod. It was there that she became seriously ill and was taken to the hospital where she underwent an operation from which she never recovered.
Surviving are the son, Charles Edward; the granddaughter, Mrs. Pearl Stickrod and one great-grandson, Dickey of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. C. F. Knee and Mrs. S. J. Beddow, of Colesburg; four brothers, Jacob, Charles, Frank and Bruce all of this vicinity. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Colesburg Methodist church with the Rev. Maynard officiating. Burial was in the family lot in Brown cemetery. The ritualistic service of the Rebekah lodge was used in conclusion of the service.
