EDGEWOOD: Frederick Friedley was born in the County Bern, Switzerland, on Nov. 26, 1857. Here he attended the day schools and grew to young manhood. He came here from Switzerland in 1882 and located at Colesburg, Iowa. Here he met the young girl of his choice, Anna Koenig, and to her was united in marriage on January 01, 1890. After making their home for a few years in Colesburg, they moved to a farm at Wood, Iowa. From here they moved to a farm near Strawberry Point. Then, after a few years, they came back to Wood, where they rented a farm for some time and then bought the modest little home and farm which has been his home until his sudden death on Monday morning, Dec. 11, 1939, caused by a car accident at the railroad crossing at Edgewood, at the age of 82 years and 13 days. Into his home were born five children, four sons and one daughter: Oscar, living on a farm east of Edgewood; Ernest, now living at Strawberry Point; Albert, of Edgewood, and Arthur, living at Idaho Springs , Colo., and one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Scott, near Strawberry Point. The wife and mother died in May, 1925.
On the 14th of April, 1927, he was married to Mrs. Anna Renfrow of Manchester, who mourns his death. Mr. Friedley was a member of the Wood M.E. church for many years, and served in the capacity of Sunday School superintendent and trustee. Funeral services were held from the church at Wood, Wednesday afternoon.
