Funeral services were held here yesterday afternoon at two o'clock in the Congregational church for Mrs. Herbert G. Cook, and burial was made in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. N. O. Bartholomew officiating.
Williette H. Crowe, the second daughter of Wm. and Fannie Crowe, was born March 10, 1879, on the home farm, one mile south of Elkader, and died in Milwaukee, Friday evening, July 28, 1939, having reached the age of 60 years, four months and 18 days.
She attended the Elkader high school and later taught in the rural schools of Clayton county. She was also employed for several years in the Argus and Register offices, resigning her position there when she was married on Sept. 22, 1908, to H. G. Cook, moving to Milwaukee at that time, where she has since made her home.
She was the mother of two children, Ruth, now Mrs. Clem Nagel, and Robert, both residing in Milwaukee. She is also survived by her husband and four grandchildren, all of Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs. J. B. Turner and Misses Eva and Ella Crowe, of this place, and a half-brother, Fred Crowe, of West Union.
Casketbearers were: E. F. Seifert, L. D. Smith, P. J. Hyde, J. W. Downie, W. C. Monlux, and George Cassidy.
