GARBER: Funeral services for John Kregel, 78, retired Volga township farmer, were held at St. Michael's Catholic church here on Wednesday morning. The Rev. J. J. Olinger, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery at Elkport. Mr. Kregel died Sunday evening following an illness of several years. He suffered a stroke in Dec., 1935, again in June, 1936 and again on July 01st, this year.
Mr. Kregel was born in Jefferson township, March 11, 1861. On Sept. 11, 1888 he was married to Eliza Miller at Guttenberg and to them were born seven children; one, Sophia, died several years ago. The surviving children are: John of Guttenberg, Raymond of Elkader, Joseph of Wild Horse, Colo., Edward of Garnavillo, Gregor of Littleport and Laura of Garber.
Mr. Kregel reached the age of 78 years. Pallbearers at the funeral were: Mr. Kregel's nephews, Alphonse Miller, Ed. Miller, Leo Miller, Andrew Elsinger, Arnold Hess and Henry Schleuter.
