STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Miss Gertrude Balluff were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the local pastor, Rev. Frank V. Getty, assisted by Rev. Thomas J. Elwick of Decorah, a former pastor and friend of the family.
Mrs. B. W. Talcott and Mrs. Kenneth Esch sang "Abide With Me," with Miss Joyce Preston playing the accompaniment. The pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased: Francis, Clarence and Gerald Everett, Don and Robert Wiltse and Lloyd Meyer. Interment was made in the Clayton county cemetery*.
Gertrude Maria Balluff, daughter of the late Victor and Mary Balluff, was born in Fayette county, Jan. 04, 1877, and died at her home Saturday evening, May 27 after a four weeks' illness. Her entire life has been spent in this vicinity.
She attended the Edgewood and Strawbery Point public schools. She taught several terms in the rural schools. For the last nine years she has been confined to her wheel chair. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are five sisters: Mrs. Fred Everts of Lamont, Mrs. Mike Everts of Oelwein, Mrs. Fred Shields of New Castle, Nebr., Mrs. J. L. Meyer of Armour, S.Dak., and Mrs. Stella Wiltse of Strawberry Point.
