Volga City: George Gardner Ingraham, son of Gardner and Betsy Tinkham Ingraham, was born on the family homestead, the present Regal Wilson farm, April 05, 1857, and departed this life April 06, 1939, Thursday morning.
His father died before he was born. His mother preceded him in death when he was a lad of 15 years. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Ingraham and Mrs. A______ Bac_tell, and one brother, John Ingraham.
Mr. Ingraham was a life-long resident of our community.
His industry for many years was farming, later he took up masonry and many land marks in Volga City and community are identified with his signature.
His death terminated many months confinement to suffering, as owing to his courageous character he ___mitted to his bed but one day previous to his death. His sister, Mrs. Mary Taylor, age __ years, where he had made his home for a period of over __ years and with her daughter, Mrs. Bessie ______ and Eva B. Taylor were __________ with their brother and uncle George, administrating comfort in every way possible.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Bl_ke Funeral home, the pastor, Rev. H. O. B__hel having charge, speaking from Psalm, 23rd chapter, Rev. Be__el paid a _____ing tribute to the aged ____ter. The pall bearers were Howard Bor____, Louis Pr___e, Oscar Lamphier, W. E. Ewing, L. J. Tenney, H. E. Dohrer, Interment in the family lot in Hill Crest cemetery.
Out of town relatives and friends present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bachtell, Vernon Bachtell, McGregor; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Taylor, Wm. Taylor, Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schneider and George Stahl of Elkader.
