GOSHEN: Mrs. Melissa Kolker, a lifelong resident of Millville township, died at her home Saturday, Feb. 04, following an illness of several weeks.

Mrs. Kolker was the daughter of John and Anne Smith. She was born in Millville township, January 27, 1857 and reached the age of 82 years, one week and one day at the time of her death.

She grew to young womanhood on her parent's farm and on Jan. 13, 1876 married Thomas E. Kolker at Glen Haven, Wis. They settled on a farm in Millville township.

Four sons and one daughter were born to this union. One son, LaRell, preceded her in death as did her husband and four sisters and four brothers. She is survived by three sons, Frank, Thomas and Harry and one daughter, Mrs. Jessie Borrett, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. John Graybill of St. Paul, Minn.

Funeral services were held at the Goshen church Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Mr. Rogers of Dubuque officiating. Burial was in Goshen cemetery.
