Clayton County Register, 02 Nov. 1938.
Funeral services were held last week, Monday, for Edward P. Larson at the Highland Lutheran church, and burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church, the Rev. E. E. Ramsey officiating.
Edward P. Larson, the son of Peter and Carrie (Benson) Larson, was born in Highland township on October 27, 1871, and died at his home in the same township on October 21, to reach the age of 66 years, 11 months and 24 days.
With the exception of seven years, when he lived in Elkader, Mr. Larson's entire life was spent on the farm in Wagner township. For a major part of the time, while a resident of Elkader, he was custodian of the court house, and he numbered his friends by his acquaintances.
On May 23, 1899, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Julia Knudtson. To this union five children were born, all of whom, with the exception of the eldest son, Peter, who died Aug. 30, 1937, survive. They are as follows: Cora, Mrs. Sam Allen, Toronto, Canada; Orwald of Highland township; Mable, Mrs. Clifford Burrell, Jesup, and Elmer at home. A step-daughter, Lena, Mrs. H. O. Thompson, of Eagle Grove; one sister, Mrs. A. R. Larson of Highland township; and two brothers, L. P. Larson of Highland and H. P. Larson of St. Olaf, also survive, as do ten grandchildren.
The deceased received his education in the rural schools of his home township, after which he took up farming as his life work, and this work he followed all the years of his life except the seven years spent in Elkader. While on the farm he held several township offices and always was active there and in his church.
Casketbearers - all neighbors - were as follows: O. H. Larson, H. R. Larson, Stener Severson, Louis Gregerson, Clarence Torkelson and Herman Schoien.
May his soul rest in peace.
