Clayton County Register, 19 Oct. 1938.

CLAYTON CENTER: Julius Doeppke died at his home at Clayton Center, Wednesday morning. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon. Those who attended the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Al Searcy, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Rausch, Mrs. Bertha Scheffert, Lucille and Paul, Mrs. Minnie Mueller and son Fred, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Doeppke, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Doeppke, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sowa, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Heller, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Doeppke and Mr. and Mrs. Clint Kinney, of Waterloo, and Carl Heller and son, of Kewanne, Ill.

Clayton County Register, 19 Oct. 1938.

Julius W. Doeppke died at his home in Clayton Center at 5:44 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12th after a brief illness.

The deceased was born April 28, 1861, in Gersdorf, Germany, and came to this country in 1914. He settled first in Chicago but for the last 15 years has been a resident of Clayton Center.

Julius Wm. Doeppke was united in marriage with Bertha Heller on Nov. 01, 1887, at Alt Schlage, in Germany, and she, together with twelve children, survive his death, as follows: Mrs. Martha Ruasch, Chicago; Mrs. Helen Searcy, Chicago; Mrs. Minnie Miller, Chicago; Mrs. Anna Kinney, Waterloo; Mrs. Bertha Scheffert, Chicago; Mrs. Marie Jacobs, Elkader; Frank Doeppke, Chicago; Emil Doeppke, Chicago; William Doeppke, Garber; Helmuth Doeppke, Waterloo; Otto Doeppke, Elkader; Albert Doeppke, Elkader. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and the following two sisters: Augusta Doepke and Mrs. Mathilda Ott, both in Germany.

Mr. Doeppke attended the public schools of his native land and in this country followed the occupation of farming. He was a member of the Zion's Evan. Lutheran church in Clayton Center.

Funeral services were held last Saturday with services in the late home and in St. Paul's church in Garnavillo. Burial was made in the Clayton Center cemetery with the six sons: Frank, Emil, William, Helmuth, Otto and Albert as casketbearers.
