Mrs. Sarah B. Hayes was born on the 09th of September, 1870, at Elkport, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Green B. Woolridge. On June 27, 1896, she was united in marriage with Thomas Hayes. For 21 years they lived on a farm near Garber. They then moved to a farm they owned near the Point. In 1917 they purchased the home here in Edgewood, which has since been their home. Mr. Hayes died on October 05, 1933.

Mrs. Hayes had been ill for several years, and under the care of physicians. She died Friday morning at her home here. Three sisters, Mrs. Rodah Galer and Mrs. Charlotte Durfey of Edgewood, and Mrs. Cora Walters, whose home is in the west, survive. Funeral plans have not been made, but burial will be made in the Elk cemetery near Elkport.
