MCGREGOR: Mrs. Harrison Baker, 45, of Marquette, died from burns received Saturday noon while starting a fire with kerosine. She thought there were no coals in the stove, but there was enough to cause the can to explode with disastrous results.

She was brought to McGregor hospital but died six hours later. She is survived by her husband and six children, of whom all are married but one little girl about eight years old. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church at Marquette.

Funeral services for Mrs. Harrison Barker, aged 45, whose accidental death occurred Saturday, were held at the Methodist church at Marquette Monday afternoon. Burial was made at Pleasant Grove cemetery. The Rev. Glen McMichael, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the services.

Mrs. Barker was severely burned Saturday noon as she was lighting the fire to prepare the noon meal. She was pouring kerosene on the fire when it exploded and set fire to her clothing. She died a few hours later. A grandchild, who was nearby, was also burned on the arm.

Florence I. Wilson was born October 28, 1892, in Marquette, Iowa, and died August 6, 1938. In 1909 she was united in marriage to Harrison W. Barker. To this union were born seven children: Fred Edward Barker, Nina May Livingston of Dubuque, Velva Rose Dryer of Guttenberg, Florence Ruby Livingston and Maude Irene Brunes of Dubuque, and May Margaret at home. Their first son died in infancy.

Mrs. Barker was baptized in the Methodist church and spent her whole life in Marquette.

Mrs. Barker's mother, Mrs. May Prouty, lives in Marquette and her five brothers are: George Wilson of Marquette, Mark Wilson, Prairie du Chien, and Elmer, Oscar and John Wilson of South Dakota.

Her husband, six children and nine grandchildren and numerous other relatives survive.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Marietta Ries, Mrs. May Barker, Alice Barker, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Evans and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Wilson, Mrs. Jessie Walter, Mr. and Mrs. George Adney, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kolby and Paul Bauers, all of Prairie du Chien, and Mr. and Mrs. William Dryer of Guttenberg.
