Clayton County Register, 13 July 1938.

ELKPORT: Funeral services were held Saturday for T. J. Walters, aged 79 years. Mr. Walters was born in Mallory Township and has been a resident of Clayton County all his life. Many years ago Jeff was a clerk in Krieb's Drug Store, and has many friends here who mourn his death. Burial was in Mount Harmony cemetery.

OSTERDOCK: Thomas Jefferson Walters died Thursday at the home of his nephew, D. A. Borrett in Osterdock.

The deceased was 79 years old, having been born on February 22, 1859 in Mallory township and having died July 07, 1938. For the last eleven years he has made his home with his nephew.

Those who survive him are four children: Arthur of Dubuque, Gilbert of Edgewood, Mrs. Eva Schnack of Garnavillo and Mrs. Anna Fields of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Bowman of Guttenberg, Mrs. Lusetta Schweikert of Elkport, one brother, Gordon of Garber.
