Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Kerlin home in Marquette, and in Friedens Evangelical church here, for Mrs. Anna Riordan, who died in Marquette last Thursday. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
Mrs. Anna Margret Sophia Riordan, daughter of Christian Brockman and his wife Maria Meyer, was born Feb. 01, 1861, in Boardman township, Clayton county, Iowa, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. R. Kerlin, at Marquette, June 23, 1938, reaching the age of 77 years, four months and 22 days.
The deceased was born and spent her entire life in Clayton county. For 41 years she and her family were residents of Elkader, and while here attended Friedens Evangelical church. In 1933, she and her husband moved to Farmersburg, where they lived until his death in November of last year. Since the death of her husband, she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Kerlin, at Marquette.
The deceased was united in marriage to Edward Riordan, June 16, 1894, at Clayton Center. Her interests were in her home and family and to them she devoted her whole time. The children who mourn her passing are: Miss Sarah Riordan, Mrs. Kerlin, and one son, Glen O., of Kansas City, Mo., as well as two brothers, Fred and Christian Brockman, of St. Olaf; two granddaughters, Betty Rae and Naomi Mae Kerlin, and one grandson, Eugene Riordan.
