Edgewood: Gertrude Du Boise was born May 17, 1873, at Forestville, Iowa. Her parents were John and Marion Du Boise. Her childhood was spent in Delaware county. She was graduated from the Manchester high school in 1892, and taught in various schools in Delaware county. In 1898 she received the degree of B.Di. from the state normal school at Cedar Falls. She was then teaching in Campbell, Minn. On Sept. 12, 1900, she was united in marriage with B. J. Davis of Strawberry Point, and to this union two children were born, Harold Davis and Marion Davis. The former is a farmer in this locality, and Miss Marion is a teacher who has just finished a successful year in a school near Des Moines.

Mr. and Mrs. Davis lived near the Point until 1903, when they moved nearer Edgewood, and have since lived in this locality. Mrs. Davis died May 28, 1938, at the age of 65 years and 11 days. She had been in failing health for a nmber of years and just recently had been in a Manchester hospital. However, her death occurred at the farm residence, southeast of town.

Mrs. Davis was a lover of flowers and took great pride in raising a beautiful display of color during the days when her strength permitted.

Funeral services were held from the home, Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. T. R. Gray in charge. D. E. Rhines sang "Whispering Hope," accompanied on the organ by Miss Jennie Forward. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
